Company History

RagnAR CArlstedt originally patented his nozzle-flapper principle in Sweden in 1917. This innovation

accelerated the industrial development of the entire sector. One year later, ARCA Regulator AG was founded in Sweden and, in 1922, it was founded in Berlin.

In 1949, after the Second World War, the company was re-founded as ARCA Regler GmbH in Tönisvorst near Düsseldorf by Dr. Ing. Ludwig Kaspers and Adolf Paulsen.

ARCA expanded in 1970, opening a second factory in Strotzbüsch near the Mosel river. In 1979, Dr. Ing. Rüdiger Kaspers took over the management of the company from his father.

ARCA’s international activities began in the mid-1980s with the founding of ARCA Controls Ltd. in India as a joint venture with Forbes Marshall. 1987 marked the start of a successful cooperation initiative with SAM YANG Comprehensive Valve Co. Ltd. in South Korea as our second joint venture.

ARCA began to develop integrated and intelligent valve actuators in 1990, which were then patented
worldwide. Technical innovations, documented by numerous patents, have distinguished the company since its founding.

In 1994, a cooperation agreement was reached with von Rohr Armaturen AG in Switzerland and Von Rohr ARCA BV in the Netherlands. In 1995, ARCA entered the Chinese market with its first licensing partner.

This expansion has also continued into the 21st century: In 2000 FELUWA Pumpen GmbH, a manufacturer of high-quality pumps for conveying media containing solids, joined the ARCA Flow Group. It was followed a year later by WEKA AG, a well-known Swiss manufacturer of cryogenic valves and level-measuring instruments.

Products

ARCA designs, manufactures and supplies control valves to the chemical industry, food & beverage industry, for power plants as well as the petrochemical industry.

A high degree of vertical integration makes the manufacturing process flexible and ensures a high delivery capacity. Nine plants worldwide manufacture and supply ARCA with fittings of nominal diameters to DN 1200 and that are rated to 400 bars or ANSI 2500 lbs for high-pressure applications.

ARCA’s leadership in the technology market is based on 90 years of experience and continuous further development documented in numerous patents. Our production, which is of the highest technical quality and certified according to the relevant quality standards, guarantees a high degree of reliability. A global network of companies supports our sales and service sectors.

Technical consulting and immediate support is provided by highly-trained service personnel in Germany and throughout the world, including at the service centers of our joint venture and cooperation partners worldwide.

3.Three-Way Valves

Up to DN 500 in cast bodies In all thermodynamic processes ARCA
three-way valves are applied, for example in cooling systems for motor ships, in heating and cooling systems for chipped wood and plate pressing, vulcanising and other presses, in high pressure applications for transferring-, compressing- and pre-heating stations as well as in

overheating processes in power stations. Furthermore ARCA three-way valves are applied in gas-pipeline-systems.

Your advantages:

  • Pneumatic or electric actuators

  • Optimal hydrodynamics for mixing and flow dividing

  • Optimal adaption to your process

Control Valves

4.BIOVENT®

  • Powerful valve actuator
  • Multi-functional positioner
  • Flexible hygienic housing
  • Hygienic housing and stem seals
  • High-precision valve trims

The classic design: analogue positioner type 824

Positioner type 824 functions according to the tried-and-tested force-balance principle. The pneumatic setpoint standardized signal issued by a pneumatic controller or I/p converter module generates a force on the diaphragm that is balanced with the spring force on the feedback shaft. The resulting difference in force moves the gate valve, which connects the actuator with the intake air
or atmosphere, thereby controlling the movement of the valve.

The intelligent design: ARCAPRO digital positioner type 827A

ARCAPRO is an intelligent, second-generation positioner. It not only offers a wider range of functions and higher level of reliability, but also features an advanced online diagnostics system and optional maintenance display. The position of the stem is sent to a potentiometer whose output signal is then compared with the setpoint by the microprocessor. Using a special control algorithm, the controller
activates the two piezo valves, which connect the actuator with the intake air or atmosphere.

The ARCAPRO positioner can be operated locally or from the control room.

Steam Conditioning Valves

5.Angle Type Valve

The angular valves of the series 350 (PN 16 - 250) and 380 (PN 16 - 400) are part of the well proven ARCA valve modular parts system. In case of difficult working conditions and sonic relevant applications it is often recommended to use angular valves, because the flow of the medium is turned only once by 90°, contrary to single or double seated valves.

  • ARCA Temperature P-Controllers - the ideal solution for many control problems
  • ARCA filter and reducing stations for an exact control of pressures at high air quantities
Whether rotary or linear – with ARCA’s pneumatic, electric, and hydraulic valve actuators you always have the right solution on hand. ARCA’s comprehensive product catalogue offers a choice of valve actuators ranging from low to very high actuating forces and torques. If requested, we can also develop and manufacture actuators that are optimised for safety-oriented tasks or have extremely short actuating times. Low lifecycle costs are a feature shared by all our actuators.

  • ARCA pressure controllers ROBOTER for constant pressures of fluids, gases and steams

Steam Conditioning Valves

2.Double-Seated-, Control and On/Off-Valves

ARCA double-seated valves are suitable for pretentions and versatile control applications. For instance in power stations, on board of ships, in steel mills and general process control they have proven their reliability for years.

The classical double-seat construction is largely pressure balanced. The low
force requirement and a short stroke allow the application of small, low-cost
actuators.

1. ECOTROL®

ARCA ECOTROL® offers a wide range of innovative solutions designed to fulfill all your control tasks requirements. Whether housing, inner valve, valve seats, stem seals, actuators, or positioners, every detail benefits from the know-how of expert engineers with many years' experience in a wide range of
applications.
  • High-performance valve actuator
  • Multi-functional positioner
  • Reliable stem seals
  • Fixed-form housing seal
  • Robust, high-precision valve trims

Pneumatic Diaphragm Actuators

The simple design of our pneumatic diaphragm actuators with a robust power diaphragm makes them universal in application and also ensures hysteresis-free control across the entire actuating range. These pneumatic valve actuators can be opened or closed using spring force or control air – an option that can be switched at any time.  The integrated adjusting spring ensures that the pneumatic control actuator always assumes a defined limit position. This is accomplished with very short actuating times meaning that alongside their control tasks, ARCA diaphragm actuators also play a key role in safeguarding the plant. The pneumatic diaphragm actuators can also be configured for manual emergency intervention if requested.

Electric Actuators

Actuating and control forces are transferred to the valve using geared motors to ensure that the forces are always available on demand. Suitable ratios guarantee that even extremely high actuating forces are transferred safely and reliably.

Electric actuators are normally operated manually, and can be switched off via configurable torque or travel limit switches. A standardized interface allows the actuators to be used for all common
applications.

Hydraulic Actuators

These are characterized by their high actuating forces and speeds. Because of the double piping for the inflow and outflow of media, hydraulic actuators are only specified for technical applications that require them.
